Muscle soreness after training

Muscle soreness after training

Clinical study: Does a post-workout massage treatment reduce delayed muscle soreness? A systematic review.

Research:
Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is a common problem following unfamiliar or intense exercise sessions for which there is currently no generally accepted treatment. Massage therapy is often recommended for relief, but there is uncertainty about its actual effectiveness. In a review, seven controlled clinical trials were analyzed to evaluate the effect of massage on DOMS.

Results:
While many of the studies showed methodological weaknesses and the results were inconsistent, the majority of research suggests that post-exercise massage can noticeably relieve the symptoms of DOMS.
